Q: evilvte may not be horizontally resized smaller

guest:
On current testing debian (lenny) the evilvtw can be resized verticall, but horizonally it may only be made larger, never smaller.

I am using fluxbox window manager ii  fluxbox               1.0.0+deb1-8          Highly configurable and low resource X11 Window manager

caleb:
I removed the "resize" code on purpose. It is easy to add it if evilvte only use a single layout.
However, evilvte supports several different layout in build-time.
It is very hard to support every possible layout with simple code.
And each layout with resize code needs a lot of testing in different window managers.
I plan to support "resize" in 0.5.0 branch of evilvte, but it will not be in Debian Lenny.
Lenny was planed to freeze in mid-July. It is impossible to make evilvte 0.5 into Lenny.

Some specific window manager can toggle evilvte between 2 different size.
For example, evilvte in evilwm can be switching between "normal size" and "maximum size" without problem.

I'm trying to use evilvte with awesome, a tiling window manager, and it is unusable. Any update on the roadmap to fix the un-resize problem?
Thanks!

caleb:
No, I have no plan to fix it soon.
I think you may want to try another VTE based terminal emulator: lilyterm.

  1. When you add the resize code in 0.5, awesome wm users should be fine then correct?

    I hope so.
However, upstream of VTE had dropped support for GTK+ 2.x, and resizing issue in GTK+ 3.x is a mess.
